My client loves Portofino, Italy and asked me to paint a mural of this location on his wall, above his couch.
He has wonderful memories of trips taken to Italy, but Portofino is his favorite spot.
He already had several pictures hanging on his living room of this location, and thought a hand-painted mural of Portofino would add just the right touch above his sofa.
When we met in person, he told me exactly what he wanted included in his custom Portofino mural.
Here is what he requested:
- Make it look like a painting and not like a photograph.
- Paint it above my sofa, and have the edges of the mural fade out and not be crisp. I’d like it to fit within a certain area – nested above my sofa in between 2 hanging pictures. We decided to make the mural 7 feet wide.
- Although Portofino is a harbor, I only want a few boats in my mural and one yacht. I don’t need many people, but the hotel, water, all the colorful buildings, and the hillside are important to me.
He also showed me his favorite photographs of the harbor as well as the angle he liked best.
