I love America!
…and so does this teenager who wanted a huge flag mural painted in his room. See the before, in progress and finished mural photos (below).
This mural was painted in Encino, California.
What client asked for: This teen wanted giant flag – as large as possible, to fit in his space. He wanted the flag to look like it was blowing in the wind and to look as real as possible.
He planned to hang framed historic items in black box frames around his room.
How I proceeded: I sketched the flag with white chalk, making sure to get all the lines equal width apart.
I used a level for the flag pole.
Then I started building colors with paint.
I made sure to do a lot of shading so the flag looked like it was billowing.
I used a small star stencil for the stars.
Then I dusted off the chalk.
We were ALL pleased with the finished painting.
